Our aim is to create a warm, welcoming environment in which children can feel comfortable and safe, allowing them to thrive and grow in confidence.
Francistown Playschool strives to provide a holistic approach to the developmental needs of each individual child; in particular, the child's healthy physical and mental development in preparation for primary school.

Our Story
Francistown Playschool is a multi-racial, English-medium Nursery School, run with a Christian ethos. Children from all religious backgrounds are welcome.
We were one of the first preschools to open in Francistown, opening our doors in 1980 with a class of 10 children and one teacher. It has developed in the last 45 years into a 4 class preschool with 4 trained teachers and 5 assistants. We relish the privilege of being present at the very beginning of many children's learning journey, and to see them become successful adults, many of whom have sent their own children to Francistown Playschool.
Playful Learning
The school curriculum is rooted in optimal child care practices and is based on the Government's Early Childhood Education Policy. We strive to keep our curriculum content relevant and up to date for our children and the dynamic environment in which they are growing up. It includes areas such as
Social Development, Personal and Emotional Development, Language Development as well as Moral & Spiritual Development.
Our educational policy is play based. We have a toddler class (2½ years old) where the emphasis is on developing social skills, lots of hands on play activities, arts and crafts, learning colours and shapes.
The 3 preschooler classes are the building blocks in preparation for Primary School Reception level. Age appropriate numeracy, fine motor activities, arts and craft, as well as stories, music and movement make up each day. Each week has a themed topic i.e. animals, occupations, seasons, transport, to name but a few.

Children enroll

The Playschool runs
from 7:15am to 12:30pm.

Children bring a healthy mid-morning snack.

We have an open door policy where parents are welcomed and encouraged to participate in their children's early education and development.
Classes

Staff
There are two classes per developmental age. Each class has a Teacher qualified in Early Childhood and Development as well as a dedicated Teacher's assistant.
All Staff are committed to providing high quality Pre-School care and education.

Our
School
The Playschool comprises four large, bright, airy classrooms, with air conditioning for those very hot days!
Toddler sized ablutions provide safe, hygienic facilities in quick, easy proximity to the classrooms and play areas.
Surrounding the classroom structures are shaded play areas with a wide variety of formal and informal playground equipment and toys to facilitate free and structured play.
